Healing Memories with Faith: September 11 Twenty Years Later

-

Location: 1050 Jenkins Nanovic Halls I Zoom Webinar

The terrorist attacks of September 11 shocked the world. Stunned and struggling in the aftermath of the attacks, many turned to their faith for guidance.

Faith leaders stepped up to meet their needs. Drawing on the riches of their respective traditions, they helped their communities constructively process the pain, fear, and anger many experienced so deeply.

Now, twenty years later, what can we learn from these experiences? Join the Ansari Institute for a panel discussion with faith leaders. Hear how they have empowered their communities to understand the past, process powerful emotions, and reject the simplified narratives that have too often informed the public conversation. Learn how faith has the power to heal memories and forge new paths—paths that promote human dignity and flourishing.

Presented by the Ansari Institute for Global Engagement with Religion and co-sponsored by the American Muslim and Multifaith Women's Empowerment Council, the Interfaith Action SW Michigan Peace & Justice Collaborative, and the United Religious Community of St. Joseph County
