ReDiscovering Convivencia: Global Policy Implications of Three Faiths in Conversation

A detailed, close-up shot captures the iconic Fountain of the Lions in the foreground, showcasing its large, intricately carved stone basin supported by a ring of stylized stone lion sculptures that spout water, while the background features the courtyard's elegant, sun-drenched stucco arches and slender columns casting deep shadows.

This interdisciplinary course housed in the Keough School of Global Affairs aims to reimagine faith-based aesthetics as a foundation for public policy for multifaith flourishing. A faculty-student trip to Granada, Spain, will provide an immersive artistic, architectural, and historical experience of Muslim Spain and the “Convivencia” between Jewish, Catholic, and Muslim communities in the region. After a mid-semester break trip to Spain, students will collaborate with curators and the Raclin Murphy Museum of Art to develop a temporary exhibition on the ways in which the arts, architecture, and literature can further multi-faith flourishing.

(Course under development–stay tuned for more!)
