Global Islam and Culture Wars (see below to download full-sized poster)

This international public forum aims to both dispassionately analyze and constructively reimagine Muslim politics amidst polarizing culture wars in a rapidly changing global order. Panelists will share perspectives around the following questions:

  • In the context of a shifting geopolitical order from unipolarity to multipolarity, what direction will political Islam take globally?

  • What parallels are there between culture wars raging in Western societies and Muslim majority countries?

  • How will the "Islam vs. the West" discourse be reshaped as the direction of history oscillates back from West to East?

Panelists:

Moderator:

  • Peter Mandaville, Senior Advisor for Religion and Inclusive Societies, United States Institute of Peace

Welcome:

  • Scott Appleby, Marilyn Keough Dean, Keough School of Global Affairs, University of Notre Dame
