Writing for Maydan, an online publication of the Ali Vural Ak Center for Global Islamic Studies at George Mason University, Ansari Institute Executive Director Mahan Mirza draws on Indian intellectual tradition to explore the Russian war in Ukraine.   

“Ancient Indian philosophy affirms: the big fish eat the little fish,” Mirza writes. “The Matsa Nyaya, ‘law of the fish,’ spells disaster for lesser nations—the little fish—that find themselves unhappily in the midst of imperial struggles.” The way out, he argues, is to universalize our capacity for mercy.
