Global Fellows
The Ansari Institute for Global Engagement with Religion has a fellowship program that offers a unique opportunity for recent doctoral graduates to transform their dissertations into influential scholarly books while residing in their current locations.
The Institute is committed to fostering interdisciplinary scholarship that examines the complex roles of religion in global affairs. Situated within the Keough School, which is dedicated to advancing integral human development and the common good, the institute provides a vibrant intellectual home for scholars engaging with the intersections of religion and: politics, governance, democracy and rights; conflict and peace; poverty and sustainable development; technology and ethics; and, business and social entrepreneurship.
Fellowship Structure and Expectations
This fellowship is designed to support scholars in the crucial transition from dissertation to published monograph. Successful applicants will:

Dedicate the academic year to revising their dissertation for publication.

Participate in bi-weekly (fortnightly) virtual meetings (via Zoom) with fellow cohort members and Ansari Institute faculty. These sessions will provide a platform for presenting work-in-progress and receiving constructive feedback.

Attend an in-person symposium at the conclusion of the academic year. The Ansari Institute will cover reasonable travel and accommodation costs for this event. The culminating symposium will be a significant occasion to feature the work of the Global Fellows and celebrate the recipient of the annual Ansari Institute Book Prize, recognizing exceptional recently published scholarship in the field.
Eligibility

Applicants must have successfully defended their doctoral dissertation by the start of the fellowship period in a discipline relevant to the Ansari Institute’s mission, including but not limited to theology, religious studies, political science, anthropology, sociology, history, law, psychology, and international relations.

The Ansari Institute will award funding to Global Fellows to support the cost of living in the fellow's country of residence. The Ansari Institute Global Fellowship does not constitute employment, or a promise of employment, by the University of Notre Dame. Ansari Institute Global Fellows will be given online access to university library resources.
